Open/Closed Status Related to Storm Activity


Note - CLOSURES in the list below supersede any previously existing orders for the area listed. Non-storm-related closures can be found further down on this page.


FWC managed and cooperative public areas:

Note: A list of campground closures related to public land closures is provided by the Florida Forest Forest External Website


North Central Region road/canal/unit closures - The following FWC managed public areas are open to public access but contain additional closures as a result of storm activity. Once reopened, they will be removed from this list.

  • Belmore WMA - Spring Road from East Boundary Road to Raccoon Road remains closed until further notice.
  • Camp Blanding WMA - Due to extensive hazardous road conditions caused by flooding, the dog hunt area will be closed through February. Please see the Camp Blanding WMA brochure for details about the rescheduled wild hog-dog season hunts.
  • Jennings Forest WMA - Tar Flower Road remains closed until further notice.


Non-storm-related WMA/WEA and Other Openings

Non-storm-related WMA/WEA and Other Closures

  • Chassahowitzka WMA - A hydrological restoration project installing low water crossing on three of the open roads has resulted in the temporary closure of the following roads: South Road, south of the Old Bayport Road intersection (0.8 miles long), Fool's Stand Road (1.4 miles long), and Old Bayport Road (0.8 miles long) are closed until work is completed.
  • CREW WEA - Due to a restoration project, the following temporary closures are in effect: All hunting and other public access is prohibited on all portions of Flint Pen Strand and Bird Rookery Swamp Units south of Sand Road, west of the western North/South Tram Road, and north of Bonita Beach Road. Additionally, access is prohibited in the portion of Flint Pen Strand Unit located at the northeast intersection of Sand Road and Poorman’s Pass Road, extending north 900 yards and east to County Line Road. These closures remain in effect until April 26th at 12:01 am. 
  • Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area PSGHA - Areas 5 & 7 are closed until further notice. Area 6 is open for walk-in only. Areas 2 & 4 can be accessed via boat.
  • Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA - Due to low water levels associated with abnormally dry conditions, motorized vehicles, off-highway vehicles, swamp buggies/tracked vehicles, and airboats are prohibited in that portion of the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA designated Water Conservation Area 3A North. Canals and associated boat ramps remain open to public access for fishing. 
  • Fisheating Creek WMA - The Swim Pond in the Fisheating Creek Campground is closed until further notice due to an excessive algae bloom.
  • Little Gator Creek WEA - Closed through January 31st to complete a habitat management project.
