Take a bowhunter education course in February

Florida bowhunters will have an opportunity to attend a National Bowhunter Education Foundation certified bowhunter education course in Alachua County in February.

Construction to repair Hickory Mound Impoundment begins in January

December 21, 2017 

Beginning Jan. 2, 2018, public access will be temporarily closed on select roads and dikes of the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area’s Hickory Mound Unit due to construction to repair the Hickory Mound Impoundment area.

FWC promotes conservation of white-tailed deer, catches three deer poachers

An investigation into deer poaching in Hamilton County resulted in charges for three men for taking deer during a closed season, according to FWC officers.  

FWC conducts aquatic plant control on Lake Rousseau

November 27, 2017 

The FWC will conduct aquatic plant control on Lake Rousseau from Nov. 27 through Dec. 8, weather permitting. Invasive hydrilla will be treated only in boat trails, but water lettuce and water hyacinth will be treated throughout the lake.  

Free Adult Saltwater Fishing Clinic coming up in Cedar Key

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hosting an Adult Saltwater Fishing Clinic in Cedar Key on Dec. 5. The free, day-long clinic is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the FWC Senator George G. Kirkpatrick Marine Lab, 11350 SW 153rd Court, Cedar Key.

Cancelled: Oct. 7 Crystal River Women’s Saltwater Fishing Clinic

Due to the impending impact of Tropical Storm Nate to the Florida Gulf coast this weekend, the Women’s Saltwater Fishing Clinic scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7 in Crystal River has been cancelled.
