FWC installs fish attractors on Lake Talquin

The FWC has installed a total of 100 fish attractors (artificial fish habitat) at four public fishing piers on Lake Talquin in order to enhance fishing opportunities for shore and bank anglers.  

FWC requests assistance in identifying person who injured a hunter on Chipola River WMA

On the morning of Dec. 29, 2017, an incident occurred on the Chipola River WMA near Waddell Mill Creek and Bump Nose Road in Jackson County, which resulted in Brendan Dew (DOB 10/1/1996), of Marianna, being struck in the leg by a single projectile. 

Triple N Ranch Shooting Range grand opening set for Saturday, Nov. 18

Free opportunities to enjoy supervised target shooting are available to the public during the Triple N Ranch Shooting Range’s grand opening Saturday, Nov. 18. The new range, located south of Kissimmee/St. Cloud in Osceola County, features a 19-station sporting clays course and multiple-position rifle and handgun ranges. 

Hunter safety internet-completion courses offered in October

Reminder: Gulf County bay scallop season closes Oct. 9

Learn more about and comment on the future management of bay scallops at a bay scallop workshop 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 12 in Port St. Joe at the Robert M. Moore Administration Building, 1000 Cecil G. Costin Sr. Blvd.

Oyster conservation measures implemented in St. Andrews Bay

These changes affect all state waters of St. Andrews Bay in Bay County. 

Apalachicola Bay commercial oyster conservation changes remain in effect for upcoming season

These changes are effective in all of Apalachicola Bay, including all waters of Indian Lagoon in Gulf County.  

Gag grouper fall season opens in Gulf 4-county region

The Gulf of Mexico gag grouper recreational season in state waters off Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson and Taylor counties will be open for harvest Sept. 1 through Dec. 31.  

FWC investigating vessel accident in Destin; numerous injuries, one missing

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), in conjunction with Okaloosa County Sherrif’s Office, Bay County Sherrif’s Office, Panama City Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard, are responding to the scene of a vessel accident that occurred this morning at the Destin jetty.
