Commissioner Sonya Rood

SonyaRood.jpgSonya Rood of Jacksonville was appointed to the Commission by Gov. Rick Scott on Dec. 1, 2017.

She has lived in Florida since 2000, and enjoys bird hunting, fishing, hiking and bird-watching.

Commissioner Rood is actively engaged in her community, supporting various charities.  For the past two years, Rood has chaired a luncheon which recognized first lady of Jacksonville Molly Curry and raised money for a local nonprofit, Rethreaded, Inc.

She is married to John Rood, a former FWC Commissioner and Chairman. They have four children and four grandchildren.

Rood was born and raised in Lake Jackson, Texas, and attended Brazosport College.
